How to make a factory reset AFTER Clean Install?

#1 Post by arlab » Fri Jan 18, 2008 5:34 pm

Rescue and Recovery screen doesn't appear when I press the ThinkVantage button at the start (goes directly to the BIOS).

So, how can I make a factory reset now?

pop in your recovery CDs and boot up from them.

Changed the first post, as the initial question I made wasn't accurate. So, anyone knows how to factory reset?

You can`t if you removed the service partition. But if you kept it intact then you would need the following package:

Rescue and Recovery - Recovery repair diskette.

The package requires floppy disk drive. However, a gentleman in the following thread installed it successfully via a bootable USB key:

New X61T Recovery Part. Error inc. Vista truble.

Clean install of an OS doesn`t have native recovery partition, only oem preloads do.

Installing the "Rescue and Recovery" solves the problem.
