ThinkPad BIOS whitelist (error 1802/1804) *READ 1st MSG*
Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
Hello,
I need a modified BIOS for a ThinkPad T61..
According the first post, the T61 *is* among the supported models.. but the post also has an
as-of date of 2008-12-26.
I downloaded the latest BIOS from Lenovo for the T61 -- dated 2009.01.08 -- from this page:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-67989
This version is labeled 2.25-1.08.
As per the other users, I hope zender will be gracious enough to PM me the modified BIOS for
the T61; ideally based on 2.25, but at this point I won't complain if it's an older version =p
Thank you in advance,
henryk

1) re: my earlier post...
- based on the dates, wasn't sure if the modified BIOS was available for the latest T61 BIOS (post-dates
the 'verified' date in original post
- that being said, in hindsight, I *should* still have PM'ed Zender =p sorry about that!
2) another user was gracious enough to point me in the right direction; turns out that the latest BIOS has already been modded!
and yes, it worked for me; THANKS AGAIN!! =D

Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
Need Help! Badly! Had a Sierra 8775 originally in my X61. Signed up with ATT, found that the nearest tower was too far away. Cancelled ATT, found a Sierra 5725, signed up with Verizon. Installed 5725, BIOS error. Got Zender's BIOS installed, now I can't get a driver to work. Device manager reports this as HP ev2210 with driver not installed. Tried finding drivers from Sierra, but they took them down. Installed IBM driver, doesn't work. Installed Verizon Access Manager for IBM with 5725, doesn't work. Tried installing Verizon Access Manager for HP with 5725, won't install because this is the wrong machine.
This is killing me here. I've paid for service for 2 months without being able to hook up. The 5725 has two fittings for wires to be hooked up, where the 8775 had one. The wires will only go one way due to length and the one is clearly marked, so I can't imagine this being the issue. Any help is MOST appreciated and thanks.

I use AT&T, so I am not so sure about Verizon. The Sierra Wireless 3G watcher includes drivers. See if that will connect with Verizon.

gicos - Try installing the HP WWAN Broadband Wireless Drivers from HP's website - It states support for: HP hs2300 HSDPA Broadband Wireless Module, HP ev2200 1xEVDO Broadband Wireless Module & HP ev2210 1xEV-DO Rel.A Wireless Broadband Modules - Then install the Sierra Wireless 3G Watcher Utility.
It proved to be successful on a clients T60 who had an HP-hs2300-MC8775 WWAN installed -

Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
does anyone try to flash his t400 with different ver fl1 among the other bios ? I mean that I want to flash my t400 bios with zender's modified fl1 (from 1.19 original bios) and other files from, e.g. , 2.07 original bios, that is that the bios is combined. I am not sure if the different ver. fl1 brickes my t400.

Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
Hi I am looking for a modified BIOS for my X61s so I can use any mini pcie card without that nagging bootup error. if anyone has (zender or anyone else) can you please pass it along, it would be greatly appreciated
Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
It seems like the X61 cannot suspend to disk or to RAM properly when using the second Mini-PCI slot with an USB card (in my case a MSI RT2571 WLAN card). Has anyone found a solution for this ?

Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
So just to be sure before I hassle Zender with a PM: do I need to send him the vendor / device ID of the hardware to be whitelisted in the BIOS, or does his modified BIOS allow to use any hardware?

Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
.FL1 file is the whole BIOS. You would have to recombine at module level, and if you did that, it would very probably render to machine unbootable, because of function address changes.jeans_yu wrote:does anyone try to flash his t400 with different ver fl1 among the other bios ? It would be very nice if this fix för boot error AND the fix for changing LCD panel and have possibillity to have a 12.1" TFT display with 1400x1050 resolution on the internal screen.
How about that as an idea?

Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
Wow!
It took almost a month for me to receive my Intel 4965AGN card, and that from a domestic company. It's not their fault, though, it's our postal services that messed up not once, but twice. I had already flashed Zender's hacked BIOS onto my ThinkPad R60 9461-DXG last month without any problems so it's an understatement to say I was happy to finally receive the package in my mailbox today. Having grown tired of the random disconnects of the preinstalled Intel 3945ABG card, I replaced it with the new one and it worked perfectly.
Thank you again, Zender (and possibly other people involved in developing the hacked BIOS)!

Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
I see that most people here are using this to add different wireless cards to their systems. I've actually been thinking of adding a mini pcie sdd to my x61t.
In the same vein as what martin225 asked and the answer that Zender gave of the bios removing all checks completely; is there some separate whitelist for sdd?
Or is it actually removal of all checks and i'm just misunderstanding how this bios patch works. (ie, it allows any and all pcie hardware to be used, not just removal of the checks for WWAN and WLAN)
I ask since the intel turbo memory that is offered with thinkpads is basically an pcie ssd, therefore there is a possibility of an pcie sdd whitelist existing. I've looked through most of this topic and no one has posted anything about trying a pcie sdd yet.
edit- fixed typos.

Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
is this topic dead ? i just discovered the idiocy of IBM/Lenovo and Zender seems to be my only hope, since i don't have the time to spend monkeying around with my bios... I'm totally willing to brick my laptop as well... Hopefully Zender answers my PM

Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
This BIOS works for my Intel 5300 on my T61 but the 5300 card makes my laptop randomly crash and freeze completly. I am wondering if this is because the BIOS needs to be edited more correctly for this card and my T61? What do you think Zender?
Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
Im trying to extract Zenders bios file from the zip file but keep getting CRC errors in both winzip and winrar for the T61 2.19 bios.

Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
I am considering buying a european Sierra MC8755 FRU 42T0801. The Sierra MC8755 FRU 42T0835 is the successor. In System Service Parts T60 is stated:
"42T0835 replaces 42T0801, 41W1079"
I wonder if the 42T0801 is whitelisted in the T60 bios.

Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
Hi,
When I boot my t61p with 3rd party wlan or Ericsson wwan card (S/N below),
I don't get this error 1802/1804.
Computer boots normally, but Windows doesn't find these cards.
I haven't read whole topic and I think my problem belongs this section.
Will modified BIOS fix this problem or
do I need to use only minipcie cards which are made for my Thinkpad model? =(
I have checked the connections and minipcie slots are working (tested with t61p wlan card)
I don't have wwan antenna cables yet but I don't think this is the problem.
I have:
T61p (6460-6yg) with changed planar 44c3931, BIOS 2.25-1.08
and Lenovo Ericsson F3507g 3G HSDPA WWAN (S/N 43Y6513) <- used in t400 or etc
and yes, SIM card reader (42W7809) <- used in my model
