Restore factory settings from partition

I just want to know if it is possible to restore factory settings on my x61 directly from partition without the use of cd's?? And if so how do I initiate it? I have installed xp now and wanns try vista again..

I believe you will need to use the predesktop area (rescue & recovery) and do a factory restore.

Since you've done a clean install of XP, you likely cannot boot into the predesktop area any more by pressing the blue thinkvantage button upon bootup. You will need to repair your boot sector:
