Fresh Install XP: Special IBM Keys Not Working?

#1 Post by jank0003 » Tue Nov 23, 2004 11:12 pm

Hi all,

Just did a fresh WINXP install and all is well. However, though I've installed access ibm and all my favorite apps the 'access ibm' button and the sound volume buttons no longer seem to work. Is there a 'Helper Program' I need to install?

Thanks,
janks

You can find drivers for the thinkpads here:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... PAD-MATRIX

The software you need for the volume I think is the hotkey, which you can find here:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-41987

I did a fresh install on my X31 and had no problems, I just went throught the list of drivers/applications on the thinkpad matrix and the systems utilities page. Everything works fine, even the volume button and the onscreen display (the green text and icon that comes on when using the laptop specific buttons like volume, contrast, think light etc...).

Hope that helps

After installing Hotkey, volumn/brightness/light should be working okay.

But I cannot assign left Alt key to be the WIN key. Tried to set it up in Access IBM, but All I can configure was my external MS keyboard.

you can also use windows' built-in functionality for key remapping. there's a program out there that helps you do it, i can't remember the name right now though. I have my capslock permanently remapped to windows key and scroll lock mapped to capslock. :P
