New Power Manager Annoyance
New Power Manager Annoyance
Am I missing a simple setting or are the Lenovo developers just being inconsiderate? I downloaded a more recent version of Power Manager yesterday (version 1.22) after reading the notes which said it was for the x60s. As anyone with an x60s knows, the max screen resolution is 1024x768 - which also happens to be what I use on my external monitor as it is easier on the eyes.
The new Power Manager seems to assume the user is running, at least, a 1280x1024 resolution since the buttons at the bottom of the opening dialogue are off the bottom of the screen when running 1024x768. I've seen this 'problem' on other Lenovo programs which I don't use often, but I regularly open Power Manager, even more so when not connected to an external monitor. The readme said this program upgrade was also for the x60s. Am I to assume that easily being able to use the program is not part of the criteria used to determine which systems the program was written for?
Maybe there is an easy workaround of which I am not aware. If so, will someone kindly advise. I don't consider changing the screen resolution an easy workaround. If others do not share this problem, then perhaps the visual appearance is due to some unusual setting on my system and not due to young, inconsiderate, strong eyed programmers running their setups at high resolutions. There is plenty of room at the bottom of the opening dialogue to shrink the size so that it fully displays on a 1024x768 resolution.
If there is no alternative to fix this issue, can someone suggest how to downgrade. This problem did not exist before the upgrade and the improvements aren't worth the hassle.
I love this computer, use it for 10 hours plus per day in business and recreation and I am sorry to post such an annoyance. My reasoning is that this issue should never have occurred. If an upgrade is stated to work with the x60s, then it should work with the x60s at its stated resolution. It does not. Somebody goofed.

Unfortunately (moving a bit off-topic), many developers are inconsiderate by assuming a fixed resolution. There are times when I still use 800x600 and it is helpful to be able to re-size a window to fit. Yet some applications (not just Lenovo by any stretch) do not permit basic window resizing. ... JDH

Nice idea but I have been running with large dpi since receiving the laptop. But your thought combined with Bill's provided a partial workaround.Did you increase your DPI or font size in Windows by any chance?

With Xtals reminding me of the dpi setting and your comment, I switched back to normal dpi and am able to see the entire dialogue. Though my aggravation with the Lenovo developers is gone, I am still at a loss as to why I now have a problem seeing the entire dialogue at large dpi when I did not have a problem before the upgrade. Something changed somewhere. It displays entirely within the viewable space on my X61 in 1024x768 resolution.

Could not agree more. The rather old feature of being able to resize the window would have instantly solved this issue.Unfortunately (moving a bit off-topic), many developers are inconsiderate by assuming a fixed resolution.
Thanks to all for your thoughts.
