Lenovo outsourcing productions to Taiwan corps

#1 Post by milstein » Mon Jan 21, 2008 12:19 pm

Is it true?

"...save on inventory costs and shorten delivery times to market, as well as save on labor costs..."

Is it because Lenovo is using a lot of (mostly) parts from these Taiwanese corps?
How can they execute quality control then?

Quality control isn't hard to do when it's from somewhere you know and get excellent results from. Simply put, if you have meetings and say i want this much quality for this much price and that isn't what you are receiving, well you'd get a big pay off and then go to another company. Quality is in the product, not who produces it. Anyone can produce a top quality product but the person that can do it for the cheapest is the person Lenovo will want to talk to.

last year the BBC had a short article on Lenovo saying they are moving their production/outsourcing to Lenovo's own production line instead of having other companies make their laptops for them.
They decided to make it themselves...If I remembered correctly they starting with the new t,x,R61 line ...
afterward on the forum I started to noticed theres just SO much production and quality issues with these new T,X61s (not counting the bad timing of the new Vista OS, and Intel speedboost?, new driver issues ,new video card supplier ect ect)
I was pretty glad I picked up a X60 instead of a X61 which was already available at that time..

So I think this is good news...
x60t-sxga-C2D L7400 1.5 GHz,
Seagate 160GB-7200.2

R50P Dothan 755-2.1 GHz QXGA
