Symantec Client Security
Symantec Client Security
Hi,
I've got a Z61T with a recently expired Symantec Client Security. When I link to the Symantec site to purchase a new license they state that the single user version has been discontinued. I'm a bit annoyed that Lenovo would install a discontinued application on a relatively new computer. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can purchaese a license or recommend an alternate security suite. Appreciate all advice.

Symantec just built a nice corporate office in my backyard. Even so I ruthlessly erase all their products on all my pcs. I think the writing is on the wall, so-to-speak, for this company as microsoft is now offering their own spyware/anti-virus software and there are many FREE options available.
Try the following FREE products (I've used both and they work well):
1) http://www.free-av.com/antivirus/allinonen.html
2) http://www.avast.com/eng/programs.html
Good luck!

May I suggest AVG:

This is a very reliable software and the price is right. The registered version license is good for two years. The renewal price is highly discounted. I have never had a problem that could not be solved with AVG anti-virus software. It is free to try. Last time I looked they had a free version. Free is good.
You will have no problem removing Symantec AV software. I have had such good results with AVG that I don't bother with Symantec...AVG will do a better job!!! Trust me!!!

Norton is NOT Symantec Corporate so please do not generalize. Unfortunately Symantec Client Security is an excellent product that uses precious little resource and is totally silently automatic but Symantec will not license in units of one, so Lenovo should not have put a trial version on its PC's.Talon88 wrote::::

A year ago (or 11 months and 26 days ago), I subscribed to the full version as an upgrade to the trial version. I've been happy with the results.
Now, however, when I go to renew this single user license, Symantec says NO -- try our Norton products or our 5 user version (which appears to require an admin server for the av signature distribution). I could be happy with a 5 user version on my different machines, but don't want admin headaches.
Has anyone gotten Lenovo or a reseller to address this problem? I'd like to stick with this Corporate edition of Symantec Client Security, but I see no easy way.
