Any new updates on getting 1600x1050 res with the x1400 t60?
Just wanted to check and see if there was any news on getting a driver for the x1400 that does the full 1600 resolution. I know there wasnt one released awhile back, but hoping there is by now.
Thanks in advance,
Brian

Hey Brian,
I'd also like to know what's going on with this. I've got 10.4. 8 working perfectly on my T60 (sound, Ethernet, and wlan (Atheros card replacement), and don't really care about the PCMCIA, Bluetooth, etc, at this point. The only thing I'd really like to get working is the x1400 at 1680x1050, because right now, it only displays in like 1400x900 which makes the screen a little fuzzy, though is a heck of a lot better than the 640x480 stretched it was originally in.
I thought I had read somewhere that 1680x1050 was possible using some custom driver kext, but at the expense of losing QE/CI or whatever. If I had to choose between a fuzzy 1400x900 with some neat animations, or a crisp 1680x1050 with basic animations, I'd have to chose to latter.
Can someone please bring us up to speed on this issue? I always make the mistake of buying laptops with ATI cards...

Change Soms numbers around and then your good
2) Video fix
Hardware:
ATI Radeon Mobility X1400 (Ven ID=1002, Dev ID=7145)
2.1) Hardcode your native resolution (1400x1050 in my case)
Edit /System/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist, adding the following lines:
Code:
<key>Boot Graphics</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>1400x1050x32</string>
Reboot. You should boot successfully into gui, with 1400x1050 resolution.
2.2) Get CI/QE support
Edit /System/Library/Extensions/ATIRadeonX1000.kext/Contents/Info.plist, adding Dev ID of your card (7145 for X1400)
Search for:
Quote:
<key>IOPCIMatch</key>
<string>0x71461002 0x71421002 0x71091002 … </string>
Change to:

Hi bobsonator,
The instructions you posted do work, however neither of us are able to run at 1680x1050, which is our T60 native resolution.
When you change the com.apple.Boot.plist as shown below:
<key>Boot Graphics</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>1680x1050x32</string>
OSX attempts to stretch the 1400x1050 to fit the 1680x1050 screen, however it is stretched and fuzzy, rather than crisp and clear, as the native 1680x1050 should look.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Jason

only does 1400x1050 max
as I recall, the old kext only supports a max , of 1400x1050 resolution,
that's why I opted for the old gma950,
would have been nice ,... X1400,x1600 mobility,...
the new basic ones, x1350 , have not heard anything eather,...
the only other thing I could think of, is an natit ATI driver,
only option is trade yours in, for one with a nvidia or intel gma950 or x3100,....
