Keyboard Goes Stupid

#1 Post by 90base » Wed Jan 23, 2008 12:17 am

Sometimes when I put the computer into Hibernation mode and turn the computer back on later they keyboard dont work right. When I type my password some of the buttons dont do anything and when I press BACKSPACE it types a character in. Why is this? Any one else have this problem? It does this say 1 out of every 10 times I hibernate it. I hard power it down and then start it back up and its fine.

Thanks
Brandon

Looks like a BIOS related problem to me... is the BIOS latest?

I suggest you add more details on the problem... the more meat to chew on the better in isolating the problem. Additionally can you recall when this started (any install, upgrade, update that might have led to this).

The keyboard works off the 8 bit decoded ASCII tables. This seems one of the eight bit is stuck high or stuck low, until the next reboot.

This can happen anywhere from the key switch on the keyboard all the way to the ASCII decoder on the MB. First and easiest thing to try is a different keyboard.
