Accessories for new X61t

#1 Post by dtzihe » Thu Jan 24, 2008 2:16 pm

Hello,
My X61t shipped today, so I was wondering what accessories I should get for it. I am a graduate student who will mostly use the tablet for class and work.

Already have or will get very soon:
-8-cell battery
-extra AC adapter
-extra RAM

Seriously considering:
-screen protector - but which one is good?
-case - should I get a bumper case?
-a different pen - is the default pen from Lenovo any good?

Thanks for your input!

I don't use a screen protector, but some people love them
I have the SF Waterfield Sleevcase, do a search, lots of posts
I've been using the Lenovo equipped pen since I've gotten the machine, and haven't had any grips about it
X61 Tablet 7767....loving every moment of it

I just bit the bullet on an x61 tablet too!

For all my screens of worth (cell phone and T60), I do use a screen protector. The T60 has the "matte" finish, so I use nushield, but both my cell phone and what looks like the x61 tablet have those shiny anti-everything coatings. I use a generic PET polymer protector for my cellphone and have EXCELLENT results, absolutely no bubbles, no glue of any kind, crystal clear, no loss of dimness or sharpness, so I ordered one up for my X61 in anticipation. Ill let you know how that goes. I think these polymer films are generally about the same, so if you read it has 99% optical clarity, 99% UV blocking, and special silicone stick, its probably the PET (you can confirm with the sales people) and then just buy the cheapest one...

As for bags, it looks like the waterfield is the most popular one on here, followed by zero shock. I too am a student and like the waterfield, but for a bag, its just too much money for me... especially when I went on the booq deal a year ago and got 4 book eva molded cases for $5 apiece! So I looked up the skooba advanced laptop case and for today, its got great reviews and looks like the waterfield sleeve with flap and shoulder strap, and its on sale at ebags for 20% off, $16 or so, plus $6 shipping, minus 10% tailormade and 8% fw cash back so looks to me about $18 shipped.
