T41 BGA video chipset flaw causing flicker and lockup?

#1 Post by djtopcat » Thu Jan 24, 2008 9:50 pm

Hey guys a laptop repair guy on another forum said my problem
that I described on here with the intermittent screen flickers and complete lock up and black screen on reboot is most likely the BGA RAM on the 7500 video chipset he said it's not an easy home fix and something about reflowing the RAM?
I figure if I can successfully resolder one of those rice grain sized brown coupling caps to the mb I can fix this I just need to know what needs to be done? anybody know exactly what he's talking about?
he also mentioned he's seen a lot of 41's do this so this might help a lot of people out there :)
