Hi,
Are all 15 inch (not 15.4 inch wide) SXGA+ displays of T60p-s IPS Flexview ones?

Yup...Try to get a BOE-Hydris screen. I got mine by accident. Crazy LCD.

How do you find out who manufactured your display panel? Is there somewhere I can look on my computer to find this out?

You gotta catch one by way of serial # to make sure you're getting a BOE-Hydris and yea, they made both SXGA+ and UXGA, for a very specific period of time...Look for models manufactured in the easrly months of 2006.

Believe me, it's worth waiting to find one. Hang out on ebay and craigslist in your city a lot. I saw a few on ebay yesterday, but they were UXGA. Are you dead set on SXGA+?

Oh, so many replies during one night

Yeah, Crunch, I´m set on SXGA+ (I´d like to have an UXGA though) since the processor T7600 is more important to me in that case (want to run Vista 64bit

) and of course I´d like to get one of those Flexview panels. My current display of my Z61p is actually not bad but I´m heavily missing wide viewing angles. Besides that the whole machine is a bit too big, too wide and too heavy for me. The T60p 15 inch just has the right measures

BTW it´s a new machine (who said that they´re not sold anymore

) and supposedly has the FireGl 5250, which I don´t intend to give you

You can check the Parts lookup page on Lenovo's site by typing your Model type and Serial number - note the FRU part # against the description: 15 INCH LCD DISPLAY FRU then refer the FRU part # to the 15 inch LCD service parts list for your LCD panels' manufacturer. {These instructions with ref to the T60 15" LCD Panels}

Weird! I entered Model type and Serial number, but I can't find "15 INCH LCD DISPLAY" from the Parts lookup page on Lenovo's site. I even tried "Automatically lookup parts that shipped with your system". Everything is almost there, but just no LCD DISPLAY.

Any help?

Download PC Wizard and look under Video then Monitor type, search the Manufacturer number it tells you, that will be the manufacturer of your lcd display.

Hey Marin85...Where are you wanting to buy this from? Granted, the bigger difference is between a non-IPS Flexview, than one with it. But if you have the choice between a BOE-Hydris LCD in UXGA with a 32-bit Core Duo, and one with a regular IPS with a 64-bit CPU, jump on the better LCD...

You can always change the CPU, although I should talk LOL...I still haven't installed mine, but I've ordered this Artic Silver 5 paste, after Lenovo flaked on me, even though I gave them the exact FRU # of what they call their "thermal grease". Lame. Servus!

After you select your machine type in the drop down box, click Parts Information.
In the list, find System Service Parts and click it.
In the parts list, LCD Service Parts is usually Item 1 in the Table.

One more thing...Ask the seller to give you the serial # and type of the machine. Then click on Warranty status on Lenovo's support site, and click the 2nd link for detailed parts information. Some sellers will not want to do that. Be assertive, and say you are a serious buyer.

So...judging from the responses above, the only way to find out whether the display on my machine was manufactured by LG or BOE-Hydris is to install separate software that will supposedly provide this information?

You could also rip out the LCD screen, connect the EEPROM containing the display informations to an I2C bus, which again converts to a parallel interface, and use PonyProg2000 to read the contents of the EEPROM. The model and manufacturer will then be clearly visible.
Other than that, there's a label on the LCD backside

Yes that is the only way, removing the lcd voids the warranty.
A simpler utility than PC Wizard may be http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/dump_edid.html
which just dumps the EDID from the EEPROM onto a command prompt or writes to a file.
I just tested it and it does work fine with a T60p.

Hey Crunch, I know exactly what you mean and I´d love to do that. But unfortunately I´m not very in swapping cpu-s as I´ve never opened a laptop before

AFAIK there are some techs somewhere in Germany that could officially and professionally swap out the cpu, but I´m still quite afraid to let them touch my TP, you know

Those T60ps that come with the BOE-Hydris panel are very few but stil available and therefore quite pricy here - about 3000 € for a stock configuration. Additionally, I have to pay about 600 € for a new T7600 (not Lenovo-labelled, the latter cost about 100 € more

) and at the end I stil don´t know for sure if my little investment will work

Not to mention warrenty...
Maybe if I have another 5000 € spare for a laptop I´ll try it but for now I´m stuck with my (future) T60p T7600 SXGA+

This method works with my T60. I got the manufacturer id "LP150E05-A2" from PC Wizard 2008. And it turned out to be LG

(googled). It seems I have a new target now: BOE-Hydris screen.

3000 Euros??? Where? I'll be outside of Munich again next week. I can't install my T7600, as I cannot risk messing up my system for the next week. If you want, you can have my cpu. Where are you thinking of buying ur SXGA+ T60p from?

I would buy another T60p. That's how I got into mine when I just had to have a UXGA screen. I would have been too impatient, and it was probably wise on my part not not to attempt to install a whole new screen by myself, because I don't think I have the technical skill required to do it. If you can do it, though, go for it. But if you reaaaaalllly want one, also consider selling your system, which might be a pain, but it was well worth it for me. Even if I had not gotten into the BOE-Hydris screen, I would do it again for a 15" UXGA with regular IPS! Love that extra resolution.

By the way, I see you have an a/b/g/n-card installed in your T60p? Which one? Atheros or Intel?

That's what mine says. What model # do you have again? I have a 2007, but I don't think it's model-specific, but rather time-specific. Meaning the time the T60p was manufactured, because I want to say I've seen a UXGA BOE-Hydris 2623-type one time on ebay after running the serial. I'm still trying to figure this part out. Thanks...
