Hard Drive constantly running

Hello all, hope everyone hs a great Thanksgiving. I have a T22 that initially had a 20gb HD, that I swapped for a 30gb drive after my son magnetized it

Here's my issue. The drive seemes to be constantly running. Two other things I have noticed, I get an intermittant beep for which I can't find the source and the computer itself freezes up on me a little too regularly.

I have defragged and cleaned the disk. I've run two different anti-virus with neither of them finding anything.

If anyone has any thoughts, please let me know.

Don't know if this pertains, but run SpyBot and Ad-Aware also. My gf's computer was a MESS because of all the spyware that was on there. Cleaning it up made a big difference.
