T41 Processor upgrade
I have a t41 2379-dku i was wondering if there are any processor that i can upgrade with form my 1.6.
Found this on ebay Intel Dothan Pentium M 770 2.13GHz 2.13/2M/533/SL7SL, it seems to have the same socket as my 1.6 ... but i don't know.
Thanks for the help ^_^

The CPU you chose is a 533MT/s model, you need 400MT/s for a T41. See the link below, look on the Dothan list, and look for 400MT/s Dothans. The most popular upgrade is probably the 2.0GHz Pentium M 755. They can be expensive though. A good price performance compromise is the 1.8GHz Pentium M 745.

No, that processor will not work. It is a Pentium 4(IV) mobile. You need a Pentium M mobile. All the processors listed here will work:

No, that's Pentium 4 M. You will need Pentium M Dothan. Herehungbp wrote:Hi all ,

is a list of Pentium M processors. You need one with 400fsb. It would also be better to get a B1 stepping if my memory serves me right.
Edit: Looks like I was late

Re: T41 Processor upgrade
Hi!
Just curious, what kind of performance would you expect with upgrade from 1.6 ghz. I see 1.8 and 2.0 cpus have 2mb L2cache vs. 1mb on 1.6 model.
Thanks.
Edit: Oh and I see in the list M765 2100mhz (SL7V3 and SL7UZ) at 400 FSB, would that work on T41?
Also I found on eBay this SL7EP 1700mhz and SL7EN that has 2mb cache, I guess my question is would it be worth time (and $30-$40) to upgrade to this from 1600mhz (for extra 1mb L2 and 100-200mhz)
Thanks.

Re: T41 Processor upgrade
Hi..
I'm still unsure about 400MHz and 533MHz.
This list say's you can run both on a t40.
http://ark.intel.com/chipset.aspx?familyID=24596
But how can a change the Multiplier for Example.
Do i have to use tools like Notebook Hardware Control to run a 770 or 780 Dothan Proz.
Or does the Bios adjust it automatically?
Thxs...

Re: T41 Processor upgrade
Something is wrong with that list. You can't easily run 533 cpus on the 855 chipset (people have used a soldering iron to change that).
Stick to 400.
Stick to 400.

Re: T41 Processor upgrade
Pentium M 735, 1.7Ghz with 2MB L2 cache is a nice way to go, very cheap and runs very cool. Remember to set the CPU power profile to Adaptive instead of Performance.imcobarn wrote:Hi!
