Anyone have a T30 with Windows XP HOME preinstall?

I can't seem to locate any posts indicating anything other than preinstalled XP PRO.

I also couldn't find a part number for XP HOME recovery disks only the one for XP PRO. Not sure if the animal even exists.

IBM never supplied XP Home, so you can stop searching.
Besides, XP Pro is superior to Home anyway, so why would you want Home?

Maybe not as a typical retail unit but I have some from a large firm off lease which have IBM COAs for Windows XP Home. I've also found a few sellers on eBay which are selling units with the same.

Another off lease unit here (OOS)

I'd prefer PRO but not willing to pay for it for a unit which is just for occasional surfing and email.

Pre-installs come from the factory. All T30s that have XP, have the PRO version.
You will NOT find any XP Home version, unless it was a laptop with a dubious provenance. And then it certainly was not a factory install.
If you want to install XP Home on a T30, that's no problem though.
Download the Pro-drivers from the Lenovo website, they should also work on the Home version.

Looked up the unit under warranty status which of course it's out of and then clicked on the parts list link. At the very least the label is factory installed :D

That's a new animal I didn't know even existed.
Apologies for being so adamant earlier on.
Guess they were specially made for a cheapskate outfit?
Haven't seen any media for XP Home though.
Try a WTB in the Market forum.

No problem. Google couldn't find almost any reference to XP HOME preinstalled on the T30 and certainly no reference to recovery disks. I figured out a workaround to use the COA on the machine and it surprisingly activated fine over the internet without a call. No recovery partition though which is fine.

I'm not sure if it works out cheaper but perhaps the large company that had these wanted XP HOME preinstalled because maybe they actually put their own XP PRO images on using a corporate license?

thanks for the reply. was looking to see if anyone had an original install of XP Home. It seems to be quite rare. Was looking for recovery disks but was able to install an XP home and utilize the COA on the bottom without issue.
