I can't help you before my notebook arrives (that should be next week)....
But I am sure that there are other members who can help you.

Do you have any problems with the frequency of 50Hz?

My 14 inch 2378-FVU SXGA+ has always been set at 60. I've never changed it or anything, and I think the only option I get is for 60.

Hey everyone, refresh rates are for CRT monitors. This means how many times the photons are hit by the electron gun in one second. LCD displays use a different technology. The image stays until it is replaced. The CRT's photons fade if they are not hit again. The refresh rate would have to do with you hooking up your thinkpad to an external CRT monitor. LCDs have a set refresh rate and that can't be changed. Hope this helps.

cool thanks, is wired i tought the lcd's would at least support 60hz referesh rate, my fujitsu-siemens has 60hz as max, i dont understand why the ibm ones only have a max of 50hz for lcd's.

Well, there are many LCDs that can do more than 50 or 60Hz. (like the IBM T860). Yes, LCDs word differenct than CRTs - they display just the "changes" of the image. But with 50Hz instead of 60Hz they can just update 50 times a second compared to 60times a second at 60Hz.... For most apps this is not important. For Videos or games it may be a little low.

We have several TFTs in our company that flicker and/or produce glare areas that are moving from top to bottom over the screen IF the refreshrate is set too low.

As long as the screen looks good (=the image quality is perfect) the refreshrate isn't important for LCDs.
