Keyboard Customizer Utility in use by another user???...

#1 Post by findrivr » Tue Jan 29, 2008 8:45 pm

I've been trying to configure an X31 with some keyboard customizations using the Keyboard Customizer Utility, 1.3.53.0, but when I launch it, it opens a Windows User Acct. dialogue asking which user profile to use, then regardless of whether Admin or Owner [full priviledges], I get a advisory [yellow triangle/!] stating:
Keyboard Customizer Utility is already being used by another user. Please logoff all users and try again."
I tried logging on/off as various users; doesn't change the advisory though, so I'm stuck in a loop.
I like the Keyboard Customizer Utility; hoping for a simple fix. :(

Anyone ever experience this?

Not really sure, but guessing most of the sys profile probably has no bearing on the issue; I suspected it may be the SpyBot S&D [TeaTime?] freeware program, so I temporarily disabled it, but that didn't matter either.
Here's my sys profile:

Haven't found anything yet...kind of gave up for now.
Thought of going to IBM support and let the server their do my system update...might be taking a big chance on an otherwise really stable system.

There are two utilities that might help.
KeyTweak and MapKeyboard.

No laptop-specific keys but should work fine mapping
the standard keys.

I think one of the Windows Resource Kits also comes
with a utility called RemapKey.

Sorry I don't have any urls.
