http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 62866.html

download the service manual and go to the bluetooth daughter card installation, replacement section and follow the intructions, very straight farward (just try not to lose any screws :) )

does anyone know if my x60 tablet can add on a bluetooth card? mine didn't come with one and i want one in there now. will if void my warranty if i add it? do i have to change the icon plate also?

thanks

Thanks Nah!

No need any other accessories to install this BDC-2?
In the past somewhere on the web I read about a special socket what is missing originally form the ThinkPads without bluetooth...

I found...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0145863340

I have the BDC-2 module only without any other socket or cable

What do you think?
Thanks again!

The BDC-2 module mounts into a socket on the LCD cable. If your LCD cable does not have the socket, then you will need to replace the LCD cable.

There are 4 LCD cables: 2 with BDC-2 sockets (for UL vs. non-UL panels), and 2 without BDC-2 sockets.

Removing the 2 screws on the lower left side of the LCD panel and the 2 screws on the front left side of the LCD panel will permit you to lift the LCD bezel from the lower left corner and look at the space immediately above the blue ThinkVantage button to see if there is an empty BDC-2 socket there.

You can "snap" open the LCD bezel in that corner by tilting the LCD panel horizontal (same orientation as the keyboard) and inserting a knife-like edge in the crack immediately above the volume control buttons.

Thanks EOMtp for the instructions...

I will check the existing of that socket in my X60s.
I really hope that is existing in mine - I have 50% of chance :)

If this socket is missing, can I mount (solder) this socket to the LCD cable or I need to replace the whole LCD cable?

Thanks!

The socket cannot be added to the LCD cable.

Even more questions about adding bluetooth to X6x

#9 Post by brixvold » Mon Apr 28, 2008 11:46 pm

Hi,

Excuse me while I'm jumping into this thread, as I recently aquired a x61t without bluetooth and with fingerprint reader. And I'm going down the same road of getting internal bluetooth working, come hell and high water ;)

Aren't the fingerprint equipped machines all born with a socket for bcd/2? the service manual is a bit difficult to get an answer out of.

If not are there any preferred places to buy the lcd cable and bcd-2?

Also does the lcd cable include a new status panel or is this another purchase? is it even possible?

And last but not least, how is it with warranty and these after sales modifications?
