I'm using X61 running XP Pro SP2. I've upgraded my harddisk to Hitachi 7K200. I've changed my BIOS to AHCI but couldn't see any benefit. Please advise as to what is AHCI and what is its benefit under win XP. Can it be used with Hitachi 7k200
Moreover, If I continue to use XP SP2. What is the best selection for the harddisk? AHCI or Compatible mode?
Thank you

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AHCIThe Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI) is a hardware mechanism that allows software to communicate with Serial ATA (SATA) devices such as host bus adapters which are designed to offer features not offered by Parallel ATA (PATA) controllers besides higher speeds, such as hot-plugging and native command queuing. The specification details a system memory structure for computer hardware vendors in order to transfer data between system memory and the device.
