fastest processor on lenovo.com

#1 Post by jacob » Thu Jan 31, 2008 5:28 pm

Hi guys,

A few weeks ago I configured a x61s on the lenovo site with a 2.4ghz processor. Now the fastest it shows is 1.8ghz. Anyone know why the faster chips are no longer available?

they might be in low supply.   lenovo pulls options when they are hard to get from suppliers.   you can call 866-96-THINK to place an order with a sales rep instead.

I'll give that a try. Thanks Erik.

The X61s is Lenovo's Low Voltage ultra portable. It is only available with Intel's Core 2 Duo Low Volatage CPUs, which currently top out at 1.8GHz

The X61 is Lenovo's Regular Voltage ultra portable. It uses Intel's normal voltage CPU's (although I do not know if it can take the fastest CPU's due to heat problems).

So, it is likely that you mistakenly configured an X61 with the 2.4GHz CPU and later when you tried to configure the X61s, you did not realize that you were configuring another model.

On a sidenote, Lenovo is shipping new T61's with T8xxx (3MB L2) and T9xxx (6MB L2) processors already. They are not that expensive, either. X61 should get them soon, after Lenovo clears out the old Merom stock.

I found a print out I made of the shopping cart and it says:

7668CTO / ThinkPad X61s / Intel Core 2 Duo processor L7700 (2.40GHz
800MHz 4MBL2)

I can't find that processor here:
http://processorfinder.intel.com/List.a ... 0&OrdCode=

So I guess it was just a data entry error on the site.

The L7700 is Intel's low voltage Core 2 Duo running at 1.8 GHz. For some reason it is not easily found on Intel's website.
