How hot does your X61 run?

#1 Post by crazeinc » Thu Jan 31, 2008 6:21 pm

Hey guys,

I was asking some questions about X61's a couple weeks ago. Well, I wussed out and bought a used MacBook to replace my Powerbook instead of getting a Thinkpad because I really didn't want to leave OS X.

Turns out the joke's on me, because this thing is burning my lap and now I'm [censored]. Granted, I could sell the MacBook and get my money back, but this has been a waste of time.

My MacBook is hovering around 60*C browsing the web and 75* doing any sort of compiling, which is wayyyy too hot for my lap.

What temps do the X61 run at?

X61 would get little bit warm but not uncomfortably hot as your Mac book

my x61 hits 86C when i run prime95, then the fan kicks up, usually maintaining 80C.

Normal web browsing...its at 32C at the moment. but i suspect that value would fluctuate depending on the ambient temp.

Avg about 47C, but the screen right near the inverter gets plenty hotter!
