LCD inverter cards for A31P IPS question....

#1 Post by SaberX » Thu Jan 31, 2008 7:47 pm

On the A31P i just picked up , i just ran the FRU # of the inverter card for the IPS UXGA screen.
The FRU # is 62p9872. I'm looking at theHMM and it's for the 15" IPS SXGA+ LCD.
The one listed for the 15"IPS UXGA screen is FRU # 26P8133.

The screen is alittle dim for a IPS screen.

Would this make any diffrence?
Should i look for the inverter that is listed for the UXGA IPS lcd's?

This issue had been brought up by a number of different members, and my belief is that it's probably a typo in HMM, but I can't prove it.

One too many people have reported A30p/A31p machines working well with the same inverter that you have...

Honestly, I don't believe that relative dimness of your LCD has anything to do with it. FlexViews seem dim until you get used to them, when compared to "normal" TN panels.

Another thing that you have to consider is the fact that the youngest A31p imaginable will be 5 years old this year, and even if the LCD has never been turned on, it would get dimmer under the tooth of time...

Hope this helps.

Thanks once again george.
I read in another post you had pic's of A31P's .A befor and after of the new backlight in one of them.If you still have those pic's i love to see them.
My e-mail is billwheeler@gmail.com

After a few days of useing this A31P i just got,it does have a hint of redness to it at start up and just a little dimm.
When the system is on and i put it in sleep(Fn+F4) ,then few min's later when i hit Fn key to bring it back,it shows a red or pink tint to the screen. It gors away after about 10 sec's.
This system is worth keeping so a new backlight i'll have to get at some point.

Hi Saber

I'm typing this on my UXGA A31P (type 2654 BU9). I had to open the LCD case to install a wifi antenna, a couple of months back, and can confirm the inverter fitted is the 9872 FRU.
