Big screen
Big screen
First off, how is Lenovo doing? Are their laptops coming up to the old ThinkPad standard of top dog?
Second, do they have any huge screen models?
Third, if they have huge screen models in top dog quality, how many years will it take before a poor man will be able to buy a decent used one?
Fourth, how can I get rich quick?

Personally, I think Lenovo's doing good...
As for the ThinkPad line, 15.4" is as big as it gets. Lenovo offers 17" in their own line.
I don't know how you can get rich, but the prices of new ThinkPads are roughly half from what they were 5 years ago, even less. So there you go...
For a top-of-the-line T61p with WUXGA resolution expect to shell out well over a grand, used...probably closer to two.
Hope this helps.

Do you mean that Lenovo is doing good on ThinkPads or on their non-IBM stuff too? Their new line of "consumer" computers is apparently just coming out, altho they declare they will have heavenly customer service.ajkula66 wrote:Personally, I think Lenovo's doing good...

The Y710 is a 17" and one Y710 (the non-gamer model) has a numeric pad. (Maybe someone is finally going to make desktop computers obsolete like they ought to be?) Looks to be buyable for under $1K, but I REALLY am not interested in first-off-the-press, hot-new. Altho if it goes big they'll surely jack the price quickly. (I trust corporate!)
I guess my REAL question is, "Will Lenovo be a better laptop than Dell?" (Trouble prone and poor-service prone according to what I've read.) (I'm not impressed with their apparent plans to make the Y710 look like a blue gunny sack.)
Thanks for your reply
PS. Sign a petition to get media to shout RECESSION more and more often!! Maybe that will hurry things along to recovery. (Financial gurus say recessions are 90% psychological, 10% real derived from the psychological.)

I can only comment on the ThinkPad line, since I've had very little experience with Lenovo's own machines...
ThinkPads are still well-made, although not to everyone's liking, but that was to be expected. I'm not crazy about keyboards on the latest generation (T61/p), but I'm a difficult one to please when it comes to that. Z61m that I've had, and T60p that I still own are every bit as good as any IBM-branded ThinkPads.
And yes, I'd place my bets on Lenovo making a better machine than Dell. The question being, is it going to be better than business-class HP?

With a (nominally) Republican administration in the White House and an election on the way, this is GUARANTEED.JimL wrote:PS. Sign a petition to get media to shout RECESSION more and more often!!
