Any ideas when to expect a T series with a LED display?
Hi everyone
I am planning to buy a new T61 Penryn, an upgrade from my current z61t. Although not much of an upgrade, i would have no hesitations to upgrade if there were a T61 Penryn with a LED backlit display. Digging lenovo blogs, I found that Matt Kohout said he is going to talk about LED displays but hadn't yet i guess.
Anyone have any ideas of whether this is really going to happen in the near future and if its worth the wait when compared to the current T61 screen as I have read Dell LED-xps1330 guys say theirs is only a little brighter than T61s-Is this true?
Thanks,K[/quote]

Have you heard of the new X300 ThinkPad?
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=55791
It does have the LED display you want and as well as a high resolution screen. However it doesn't use Penryn processors... and you'll have to wait for one or two months I guess. If you want to know how a LED screen looks like, I suggest you to pay a visit at the local Apple store. The new Santa Rosa Macbook Pros have them. Sure they can't beat T60p's Flexview IPS LCDs but they are brighter and more comfortable to look at than many TN screens used in T series. And since they have longer life time, you won't be bothered to change the light bulb in a couple of years.
Hope it helps!

Thanks for the replies
Thanks both for the inputs.Yes, I heard about the X300.I always wanted te flagship thinkpad model and i allowed myself to get distracted once when z61t came out.X300 tempts me more. However, features like firewire, media card reader and discrete graphics are a plus for me as i do a little bit of video editing which i dont think the X300 is rumoured to have. Hopefully i can control myself when X300 comes out though.
That is a good idea to visit the apple stores. Maybe i'll try that out this weekend and see how it goes.
What is a TN and do you guys think that LED displays are not going to be in the T-series in the near future?
