Quick question: Are t43 and t40 components interchangeable?

#1 Post by willpower101 » Sat Feb 02, 2008 4:57 pm

My friend is looking at a t43 bottom half case with proc, x300, wifi and back of case. He's wondering if all the parts such as keyboard, bezel, and his 15inch monitor will fit it?

Also, is there any downside to having a t43? I saw a thread where the t42 got rated highest, but why wouldn't a laptop with an x300 and cheaper faster ram be better?

Thank you! (i did search, but we're pressed for time and I didn't turn anythign up about the case swap)

15" stuff goes with 15" stuff:

I'm guessing the keyboards are the same.

People here think the T43 is hotter and noisier.

Some parts are same but keyboards aren't. This is because 14" and 15" models use the same system boards. Position of the keyboard relative to the board is different so the keyboard bolts have to be shifted to match the holes in the board.

Thanks for that. I've been reading for about a half hour now and that's what I seemed to be seeing as well. [edit] I mean about the hotter and noiser part.
