T30 windows XP error 01C9

#1 Post by lemmerdeur » Sun Feb 03, 2008 6:23 pm

I installed a WLAN 802.11a/b/g Mini PCI Module Atheros AR5006XS (AR5414A) Single Chip in my T30 running Windows XP. I was able to remove the 1802 error but I don't seem to be able to remove the 01C9 error. Now when I boot my laptop, it takes a very long time then I have error 01C9 and I press esc but then it takes again a very long time and a window logon pop out with administrator. I have no password setup on my laptop so I press enter and then it take agin a long time to start Windows XP. The boot takes on total about 5 minutes when before instaling the Atheros card it would take less then a minute. The card works perfect and the laptop too but boot time is annoying.
From what I read, Windows XP is the problem because with Linux there isn't any. :?
Is there a way to remove the window logon as I don't have a password? :?:

At bootup (for a T30 with that error 01C9), press the Spacebar immediately, the Error message will pop up almost instantly, press Esc and continue booting.

Download M$ TweakUi and install that.
Under Logon/Autologon you can set the name of the 'standard' user that's on your PC/laptop.
When done, next time you boot, (after Space/Esc) it will go straight to the desktop.

I think there was a problem with the iso file. This time after redoing the CD boot with the no 1802, it booted thru the cd , I choose no for the 1802 and then choose the Atheros, i went then to retrying eeprom write for long time and finaly said eeprom write failed. under, root@slackware:/# What do I do now????

Have you tried RBS's suggestion yet?

See my PM answer to you.

"That error 01C9 will remain in your T30 until you take the card out again. Just press the Space and Esc buttons upon boot up.
Learn to live with it and enjoy a speedy card.

That second program only works for Atheros 5004 chips and lower, not for the Atheros 5006. Read the Wiki again!
It did not do any damage to your card or your laptop. "

OK, thank you all for the help. I guess I had everything done already as the 01c9 error can't be removed for now.

the patch software can NOT work on 5006 wifi card. Please use 5004(5213A) wifi card.
