GTA: Vice City on a T42p?

#1 Post by jawhitti » Sun Nov 28, 2004 1:50 am

I've got a T42p (2373KXU - 2.0Ghz, Mobility FireGL T2). I installed Half-Life on it this weekend and Half-Life runs quite well. Mostly playable at 1600 and quite nice at 1280.

Then I installed GTA: Vice City (I never finished it and need something to tide me over till San Andreas ships for PC ;).

GTA comes up in 640x480x16 mode and tells me no other video mode is available. I've spent the last two hours poking around the web with no help (the abject failure of the Update Connector isn't helping). So has anyone managed to get GTA: Vice City running on a T42p with the FireGL card?

(And why can't IBM give us the option of getting something other than a #$%#$% OpenGL card in there? )

TIA,
jawhitti

Yes, I have a 2373KXU and run GTA: VC at 1600x1200 smoothly. GTA's graphics are particularly THAT taxing compared to some of today's games (especially shooters), so you'll be fine.
