T2*-T30 AC adapter?

#1 Post by skou » Fri Feb 08, 2008 12:24 am

Does anyone have a decent source for reasonable AC adapters for our Thinkpads? I've looked on Ebay, and they all look like, uh, "marketing" deals. (The shipping is usually more than the product.)

I'd like to find a source to buy 4 or 5 of them, maybe more.

eBay is where I pick up my adapters. Like you, I try to buy in quantity (10-12 at a time) so the price per is around $10. If you and anyone else is interested, maybe a group buy is in order? Of course the extra shipping from the eventual buyer to the rest of the group needs to be figured into the overall cost.

My last lot buy was for 12 @ $129 (shipped) and I'm almost ready to be looking for some more.

It just takes a little patience with eBay. The last three that I picked up were less than $10 each, due to combined shipping...

Patience is the key on E-bay.

Here is a lot of 5 x 56W adapters with a very reasonable shipping rate:

here is a lot of 5 x 72W adapters with a not so reasonable shipping rate  :

Does anyone know whether the 56W adapter is safe to use for T2* - T30? If it is, get one from Lenovo Outlet for $8.16 shipped.

Good question. A T20 is rated at 3.36 amps, so a 56W adapter should be OK, but I bet the 72W would be better though? Not sure about a T23 or T30? Besides, the picture doesn't show the power cord. That would be an additional $1 + shipping from another source if it wasn't included.

EDIT: The power cord issue was cleared up in the below post, thanks. It looks lik ethe Lenovo deal is pretty darn good :D

They certainly recharge the battery at a faster rate.

I ordered one for my T42 and can confirm that it's included. I used it with the optical drive removed for about three hours and the adapter didn't get too warm. I didn't test what would happen if the optical drive was inserted.

FWIW, my T21, bought new in 2001 from IBM, came with a 72W AC adapter (16v, 4.5amp) FRU 02K6677.

OK, my 2 cents..

Got a combo adapter from ebay for $18 shipped. Air/car/AC adapters, and it works great. FRU22P9021

I could have bought more and saved shipping, but I only wanted an adapter for my T21 for use while traveling.

No complaints and 72W works fine.

Update.

Ray sent me a link to an Ebay sale for 5 adapters, that were $55 and change.

They're on their way here, as I type.

Thanks, Ray!

You're welcome Steve!

My deal with the same seller I pointed out to you is just a little bit more than yours; he's charging 7.25% sales tax since I'm in CA. For six of them it looks like a total of $67+. The problem is that I haven't been able to pay for them using either eBay's checkout or PayPal's. I've sent them an email but probably won't hear back from them until Monday.
