"the user could not be enrolled" after MB change

#1 Post by Pepa » Fri Feb 08, 2008 3:56 pm

Hello

mine planar (motherboard) unfortunately died and they chenged it for me. All works fine, except TPM <> Client security solution.

After boot to Windows (Vista Business 32-bit OEM), i was prompted to for "system key recovery" password. I tried all mine passwords without luck. Maybe it wanted TPM ownership password, but i never knew any.

So i decided to reinitialise TPM chip. I deactivated hardware security support in Client security solution (CSS) 8.1. After reboot i was prompted by CSS for Windows password; i worte it and then it wrote "the user could not be enrolled".

From that time i tried many steps and im completly confused and without luck :) .

Some steps i have tried:

a) reinstall CSS - same result ("the user could not be enrolled")

b) uninstall CSS, reinitialise TPM from tpm.msc, install CSS - same result ("the user could not be enrolled")

c) uninstall CSS, erase and deactivate TPM from tpm.msc, install CSS, initialise TPM from CSS - same result ("the user could not be enrolled")

d) uninstall CSS, erase and deactivate TPM from tpm.msc, install CSS, initialise and take ownership of TPM from tpm.msc - same result ("the user could not be enrolled")

Maybe i got confused too much in those steps, i spent too much time and im walking in circles :)

Im a bit worriing if TPM in spare planar isnt bad, but all initialising/erasing is working as intended, so i think i messed all up in software way :)

Has anyone "tested and working cookbook" for getting CSS with Password Manager to work?

thanks

"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.
