Network Icons missing help!!!

T41 which has been running ok until a couple of weeks ago. When turned on it continually reboots. I do get the option to open in Safe mode or Last Known Working Config but when these were tried it still reboots. Couldn't interrupt it and the only way to turn it off was to hold down the power button.

So I fitted a new 80g hard drive and loaded xp from the same disc that I used when I bought the machine 8 months ago. All went ok but no icons in the Network Connection's folder. Looked in device manager and all the items in the 'Other Devices' list are in an error state. These all show the same fault ie "The drivers for this device are not installed (code 28)". I can't get the drivers because it gives no details ie The Manufacturer is always 'unknown'. I eventually found the Network Adaptors in hidden devices but there is no wifi adaptor listed. Everything else in device manager appears
fine.

I found another similar thread which said use 'System Update' but this won't install. I was advised to install Windows installer 3.1 which I did but that didn't help.

I am now at a loss...can you guys help?

The obvious questions that come to my inexperienced mind are:-
Is there a generic set of drivers available?
Have I missed something obvious?
I have read about a partition which holds IBM diagnostic and recovery but is it necessary to have this loaded and if this is my problem where can I get a copy and how would I install it?

Anyone any ideas how I should proceed to sort this? Please, please !!!

Download the ethernet driver from www.lenovo.com and put it in a USB flash stick. After you got the ethernet port working, download the other drivers manually or use the System Updater utility.

Thanks sjthinkpader for getting me back in the right direction. Having downloaded the ethernet driver I installed Systemupdate from lenovo.com and when that had done its bit I updated any remaining drivers..... all back to normal now.
