Why this forum?

Being new to this forum, perhaps I am allowed one stupid question?

I found this forum pretty much by accident. Why are you guys hanging out here rather than on IBMs forum (where people could more easily find you)?

Well, egg on my face, I just went there to look up the address, and found out that they closed it down in November. Shows how useful it was to me.

Even when IBM's forums were up, the signal-to-noise ratio here was much better. People who are the old-timers here know what they're are talking about and spend less time whining and more time helping each other.

Recently this has been a bit clouded with new members clamouring over information about the new T series models, but eventually that too will die down and it'll be less about how to get a thinkpad and more about long-term usage and what's next in the IBM lineup.

(That being said, IBM must be on the right track since the T series has sparked a really large interest in thinkpads again--especially outside of the tradionally strongly held by IBM business market; my guess, the largest since the butterfly keyboards)
