200GB or higher Upgrade HD for Z61T?

#1 Post by HarryWild » Sat Feb 09, 2008 5:02 pm

I just try to install my 200 GB Hitachi HD and when I rebooted it came to the safe mode and then went to the blue screen of death.

Of course, I did not reboot after the Rescue and Recovery was done but continued with the installation of Office 2003!

I called Lenovo in Altanta GA and got hung up on several times but finally got some one to talk with and did a PC Doctor Diagonistic on the whole unit!

Called back again they second guy said the first guy over did it and told me that Lenvono does not support anything more then a 120GB for the Z61T series. I could go to Lenovo non-comforming customer support for $$$ to see if they could help me!

I decide to just to redo the Windows and reboot and see what happens!

If anyone know if it can support a 200GB; I would appreciated since Lenono warranty would not talk with me when I told him that it was 200GB and he spent 3 minutes look it up and told me he could no longer help me!

IT WORKS!

Well, it can take at least a 200GB drive! I installed a Hitachi 7200rpm with the new 16MB cache.

Just be watchful of not to install Office 2003 at the same time as XP Pro! Make sure to shut Z61T off first and then turn it on and install want every your would like afterward. I guess it there might be some conflict in files between XP and Office if installed simultaneously!

I am so happy that it works and I even added a 2GB memory stick to make it 3GB of memory!

The only thing left is to hunt down a DVD burner and I am complete!
