[HELP]Fan is always working...
[HELP]Fan is always working...
My unit is 2378CU1. I use a little software called MobileMeter to monitor CPU temperature and HDD temperature.
What annoys me is even the temperature is low (CPU 38, HDD 40), and CPU is running at 600MHz or so, the fan is always working and making noise.
I don't know if there is a way to adjust to condition at which the fan should start working.
Thanks!

Download Radlinker (Omega Drivers) or ATItool and turn the clock of the Radeon down. 110 to 160 MHz is a good value, you have to find the best frequency not to get artefacts.
Within a few minutes the fan will stop!!
110MHz is more than enough for all work except half-life, far cary and that stuff...

well, as I said, you have to find out the lowest frequency for your system . The ATI memory is quite sensitive for downclocking.
I use ATItool on my T40p and have a fully stable system with both 160 MHz (without fan) and powerplay enabled. You can set different profiles.
If you enable powerplay, beware that the GU runs on low voltage, and you have to play with 16/32bit settings and clock to find a working solution with crashing. Takes a few tests.
Remember, each GPU has different settings (powerplay, non-powerplay) etc.
Unfortunately the Tools only opitmize towards overclocking. Nobody thought yet about underclocking. Maybe that's a missing feature.
