T42 Warranty Upgrade?

Greetings All!

I have my mind set on a 2378-FVU which I think I will buy from a third-party vendor ($1,665.47 from CostCentral.com).

I tried calling IBM and asking them this, but the rep seemed to only want to sell me a laptop rather than answering my question.

The question is, if I buy a new ThinkPad from a third party vendor, can I call IBM and purchase an extended warranty? If, so how much would this run me? And, how long do I have to make up my mind if I want to buy an extended warranty.

As long as it's an IBM, and it's within its warranty, you can extend the warranty from IBM. And the price for that should be the same. Probably it will be 10% less if you order the warranty online. At least it's the situation in Canada.

Have you talked to Bill yet? I would imagine he can equal or beat that price. Hope I am not mis-speaking and piss someone off...but just thought you should know that.
