R60 battery voltage

#1 Post by Fusion » Tue Feb 12, 2008 12:05 pm

Hi!
I currently have a 10,8V 5200mAh 6 cell battery in my R60 and would like to buy a new one (since this one is down to 40% of it's life :(
I got an offer for a 11,2V 6600mAh 9 cell, the seller stated that it fits the R60.

Is that right? Can I use the 11,2V?

Hello from the same country - Taky jsem z česka :-)

I'll continue in english to let the others know, I'd recommend to take a look into the HMM (hardware maintenance manual) downloadable from the lenovo website, if there isn't any sign of an optional 11.2V 9 cell battery, I'd be very carefull! especially if it's not an original IBM battery.

EDIT: Ok, voltage is not mentioned in the HMM, I took a quick look around and it seems that some laptops use 10.8, others 11.2, others 14.8 and so on... Personally, if this an original IBM battery, i'd give it a try, if an OEM, then rather not...

I did a little more research and found brand new IBM batteries at about 130$ (2300CZK), which is pretty good for a 10.8V 7800mAh 9cell.
So I guess I'll go with that.
