Can Windows Server 2003 use XP drivers/programs?

#1 Post by ulrich.von.lich » Tue Feb 12, 2008 4:13 pm

I would like to know if I'll have some compatibility problems with Lenovo's drivers/Thinkvantage programs after moving from Windows XP to Windows Server 2K3?

Thanks!

Im using server 2003 on a T41p. I can tell you that system update does not work, whether in compatability mode or not. I will dig out some info on drivers that do not work for you.

To install the tpad specific driver and utilities you obiously download and install them. Most of them goto the c:\DRIVERS folder. Ihad to go through each subfolder and find the setup or install exe file and manually install it.

the OSD requires you to right click the setup file and click on th compatability tab, select xp from th list and save. It will install normally thereafter.

I have not been able to install the modem or active protection system so far.

As you unpack aech tpad file, note where it unpacks to and its name. as not all goto the DRIVER folder.

I will post more as a get more time. hope this is a start.

Thanks Yandar! I just bought a Windows Server 2003 and soon I'm going to try it on a T60p. For the modem, can you use the windows driver for it? (if there's any.. windows xp would've found the correct driver I guess)

I am going to say you can use XP drivers on Server 2003. The reason being is that Vista is loosely based on the Server 2003 kernel and I have had to use XP drivers for some of my hardware to work with Vista, I have not tried messing around with Server 2003, so I would not really know for sure.
I have finally rejoined the dark side.
