Excellent description on backlight failure (flickering, red)

After searching endless threads with insufficient information about my problem with a problematic LCD backlight I stumbled upon this excellent description of CCFL backlights.

It technically describes the causes of:

* flickering lights
* pinkish, reddish lights
* the yellowish lights and deterioration of the whole LCD assembly due to intensive UV light
* the greenish tint after changing the CCFL
