lost the volume control on from my keyboard

After I made some changes on my Startup using msconfig, the three buttons for adjusting volume doesn't work any more. Any body knows how to reslove this?

I have another question:

if my default battery is 8 cell, can I buy a 4 cell later?

Did you disable the hotkey control? I think the process is called TPHOTKEY. If you enable that, your buttons should work again.

Yes, you can purchase a 4 cell battery later.
