Looking to buy a T61 -- which one to buy?
Hello all,
I am thinking of buying a T61 to use as more of a complementary "powerhouse" to my X40.
First, what's the overall feel of the T61/T61p series around here? Going to be doing mostly word processing, coding, computational number crunching.
There are a lot of models now, the 15'' and 14'' 4:3 and similarly the widescreens. Are there any that I should avoid (e.g. no flexview???)?
It will stay docked most of the time, or at an office; I am not planning on using it so much for mobile. I was thinking of the 14'' widescreen since it is the newest addition with probably a lot of upgrades, but I'd love to hear some feedback from you guys.
Thanks!

X300 should be about $1000 cheaper with an 120GB SATA drive. Here is a spec chart that lists both SSD and 120GB HD as storage options.

At least Vista is a good 'test' for the newer hardware. I mean, why else would we need to keep upgradingicantux wrote:X300 kinda expensive - no? With just a 64GB SSD hdd , vista itself would use up 90% of that. LOL!

I bought a T61 14.1" 4:3 at the beginning of the year and I am very impressed with the system as a whole. I much prefer the the standard 4:3 to the widescreen displays.
My only complaint was Vista but I quickly ordered XP downgrade CD's from Lenovo and I will reinstall it once the 1st service pack is released.
I have the 6 cell battery in it which I would highly recommend over the 4 cell. It lasts me about 4.5 hours wirelessly surfing the interent.
All in all I would highly recommend it. I especially like how solid the laptop feels, the screen in particular (with no flex unlike most laptops), because of the dual roll cage.
