T30 Motherboard replacement

#1 Post by jgra » Fri Feb 15, 2008 2:11 pm

Hello, I have a T30 model 2366-43U that has a bad motherboard. The laptop has been great up until now and is in real great shape. I am looking to by a tested second hand motherboard off of e-bay. My question is some dont list the model number and some list the model but not the 43U part of it. Does it have to be the same exact number to work with my T30 or will others work. Thanks

If you want to be sure that there's nothing in the way of a compatible swap, then you can check the Hardware Maintenance Manual for the T30 series. In it you will find this:

It's a table listing the various type (model) numbers with the associated motherboard FRU.

See my posting about mobo part numbers in this thread http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=51349
and the posting it refers to in there.

The security chip itself.
If you have a mobo with chip and you don't use any of the security features now, you could also get one without the chip.
However, if you take off the (removable on a small circuit board) chip, that mobo will NOT work any longer.

Found a R69 motherboard (does not say if its a 2366 or 2367). Would this swap out with my 2366-43u ?
