pointystick cap replaced under warranty?

This is a pretty stupid question, but a friend and I were talking about it earlier and I'm really curious:

If your pointystick cap gets worn (like they always do) within the warranty period, can you get it replaced (or get a whole new pack of three) for free?

Don't know. My guess is not any more than the windshield wipers on your car are covered, but ask 'em and see - report back, please.

The last couple of fairly new ThinkPads that I've had came with replacement trackpoint caps of different types...one installed and two in the plastic bag...

You will receive a label to return the "defective" cap.

Right, but say you only really like the really scratchy old style one, and you don't want to use (or can't stand) the other styes. I presume you could call in and see about replacements. Once mine starts getting worn I'll call in.
