Access Connections and XP SP2 Wireless trouble

#1 Post by Merlyn_3D » Mon Nov 29, 2004 8:03 pm

Ok, I have the problem in XP where Access connections will get all the way to the last step of connecting and just wont' get an IP address. However, if I turn off the wireless zero config service, this doesn't happen, but for some reason not as many networks show up when I click the find WLAN button. Does anyone know how to get Access Connections working with XP SP2 correctly?

BTW, I'm running the latest version on a T30 thinkpad.

It depends on the wireless card in your T30. First, I have a T41 with an IBM 11 a/b/g card, XP Pro SP2, and Access Connections 3.53 and it works perfectly. I am working on a T30 for a client with the IBM High Rate Wireless card in it, XP Pro SP2, and it maxes out on Access Connections 3.00b and won't work with any version of Access Connections and WPA. It will work with WEP and Access Connections 3.00b. It is an Access Connections problem (and IBM has so acknowledged) and not an XP Problem.

So many variables to consider. ... JDHurst

It's the intel high rate b-card with modem. This bites. Anyone else have any experience?

i have a T40 with a/b/g card.

for some reason my wireless is horribly unstable if i dont have netstumbler running (probably because it stops the wireless service).
