Problem after reinstalling xp pro on a t23.
Problem after reinstalling xp pro on a t23.
I was having problems with my t23. I have previously had the blue screen of death and was able to fix it with the xp cd recovery mode. This time I could not get it to run in recovery mode so I completely reinstalled xp pro.
The problems I am having are I was not able to back up the drivers and such for the t23. Now my t23 track point mouse will not scroll. The keyboard is really a mess some of the keys work fine and others that are supposed to be letters are numbers. I have downloaded some of the drivers from ibm and it still is not fixing the problem. My wireless is also not working correctly and I have reinstalled the drivers for my wireless card.
I have read that I needed to back up my ibmtools from my old configuration, but I was unable to access the hard drive to do any of that.
Can anyone point me in the right direction. I am somewhat computer savy, but I am better at following directions. lol
Maybe someone could point me to a website to help me out.
Thanks in advance
Brian

Did you install from a retail XP disk or the IBM restore disks? If the former, I believe the simplest way to go woul dbe get a set of T23 disks and reinstall from scratch. Then download updates as needed, but al teast everything should work well. If you son't have the T23 disks, someone on this board may be able to sell you a set, well worth it.

I have copies of the disks that you need, but you might do better DLing and installing System Update. You will need to have Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 or later installed on your system. That can easily be picked up using the Windows Update and choose the optional updates.
System Update will allow you to update each of the drivers and some of the programs that originally came with the T23.

Thanks for the replies. I did not have the ibm restore disk so I used a retail copy of xp pro.
tfflivemb2 I actually found that program and saved it to a usb drive and installed it on the laptop. Is there anything I need to do after running the program on the laptop. So far it hasn't seemed to help. I may try it again.
Thanks again

I have a IBM-XP partition on my hard drive. I think it is called Rapid Restore. that and the thinklight are the best features. You should look into it. I would like to know what other people think of Rapid Restore.

check if the num lock is turned on at boot ... that will explain the consufison with numbers/keys. I have had that happen to me when I had an external keyboard connected and I forgot to change that setting when I booted my laptop away from the dock.
