Rescue & Recovery Password

#1 Post by Harryc » Sun Feb 17, 2008 1:53 pm

I have a T42 here that the previous owner set a password for the R&R partition. I thought that by creating a fresh set of R&R CD's that I could bypass this password...no go. How do I get rid of it?

I just found this thread searching for an answer to the same issue on an X40. Turns out the password seems to be stored in the 'c:\ibmshare\ibmpwhp.pyc' file. Moving the ibmpwhp.pyc file to the desktop allowed me to access the R&R partition and recover the machine normally.
This appears to be an older version of rescue and recovery so your mileage may vary with newer versions.
