shutdown while lid is closed?

why won't my z61t continue shutting down xp when i close my lid? i find this glitch really annoying when i need to pick up and leave FAST. thanks.

Did you change the lid setting to shut down? Otherwise it just suspends. Neither is a glitch. ... JDH

What may be happening is that you start the shutdown process, then close the lid, at which point the laptop goes into standby mode, which actually stops the full shutdown.

To counter it, go to the power management options and set the action upon closing the lid to "Do nothing". Then it should not interfere.
