External monitor configured as dual monitors without dock?

#1 Post by MeCasa » Mon Feb 18, 2008 5:37 pm

I run a T60 and I use VirtuaWin to run multiple desktops. What I would like to do is add an external monitor and have it set up as dual monitors, my laptop screen being one and the external monitor being the dual.

Is this possible?

Thanks

PS: I'd rather not buy a dock unless I HAVE to

you don't need a dock. Use fn+f7, configure a new profile.

Obviously, you have to connect the external monitor via vga w/o a dock.

Fantastic, I thought as much but someone was telling me I needed the dvi

Now that I know it will work I'll pick up a monitor and try it, as I read your post I tried fn + f7 and I saw the necessary settings.

Hehe, pretty impressive, I might even start studying what other tricks Thinpad software is capable of, maybe I'll even quit b*tchin' how the ThinkVantage software slows my bootup :D

Thank you
