Would appreciate if anyone with actual experience with T42,
What Is The Largest IDE(PATA) HDD for T42s, 2373-K5H?
-Did you install it and work?
(I've heard about the Western Digital 250 GB HDD 5400 RPM)
-Did you have to flash the BIOS of the Lenovo T42, and where did you get this BIOS flash?
Background info:
I'm a proud owner my Lenovo T42 (2373-K5H), and I've just extended it to the maximum 5-year Warranty (2 yrs left).
As my 100 GB HDD is almost full, I'm looking to increase it to 250 GB if at all possible. (I don't want to use the 160 GB HDD's as this is just a small incremental increase, tks!).
Thank you in advance!

The WD 250GB (WD2500BEVE) is the largest 2,5" PATA drive available. AFAIK, they are being used in Thinkpads without problems. There are several users on this forum with these hard drives.
I'm not sure about the BIOS though.

You also have the option of getting a ThinkPad 2nd Hard Drive Adapter for Ultrabay Slim - or see ThinkPad 2nd Hard Drive Adapter for Ultrabay Slim - Overview - they are available (as new!) on e.g. eBay; search for 62P4554 or 62P4553. This is however only an option if you want to (periodically or permanently) swap out the CD/DVD-drive by this 2nd HDD adaptor. The Ultrabay also needs a PATA HDD.
If you had had a T43, things had looked better with respect to the maximum storage potential - see why in the thread FS: Mint T43p 2668-H1U 15" UXGA (see post of Sat Aug 11, 2007 6:05 pm). SATA drives (2.5") now comes up to 320 GB, bringing the internal storage potential up to 640 GB in a T43 (!). Oh, well - only few people probably need such huge, internal portable storage.
Best regards,
Johan
