Welcome to thinkpads.com!

You can remove the known supervisor password by accessing the BIOS setup menu (hold the F1 key down while powering up). select the Password sub-menu, then the Supervisor Password entry (which should show "Enabled"). Enter the password in the first line, then press the Enter key for the next two lines ("Enter new" and "Confirm new"). That should disable it.

Okay, trying this out on an A31 (which should be about the same as an A30), this is what I find:

If there is a Supervisor password set AND the "Lock BIOS Settings" option is disabled, you will be allowed into the BIOS but you will not be able to change any of the password settings, even if you supply the wrong (or no) password.

Are you sure you know the correct Supervisor password?

edit: Ah, re-reading your posts and trying something else on my A31 makes me ask this:

When you first access the BIOS and get the lock icon, are you entering the power on password or the supervisor password? If you supply the power on password then what you describe (no highlight on the supervisor password possible) will happen.

Hm, i thought i enter supervisor password but maybe you are right and i know just power on password and supervisor password is different. But last owner gave me just this password and told mne that i can easily change it or turn it off. So I will try to ask him for this, thank you.
