Will this work with my X60 Tablet?

I thought it would but this SATA 3.0 is throwing me off.

Also I'm looking for the 7200 ATA 100 GB Seagate and I can't find anyone selling it. It was at Newegg just a few months ago. I know it exists, because I have one in my X32. Now I can only find the 5400 RPM ATA drives.

I think that x60 series offer only SATA I support. Not sure but there may be a jumper on the drive itself to emulate SATA I instead of the rated SATA II, thus the drive would still work but only in SATA I mode. Would be worth visiting Seagate site and looking at the product specs.

Problem is I didn't even know there was more than one SATA. In fact I don't know much about it at all. There are lots of people using 200GB drives. Are they using an older drive?

SATA/300 is backwards compatible with SATA/150. A SATA/300 drive or controller can talk to a SATA/150 controller or drive. No jumpers are usually required.

Obviously, you won't transfer data at the faster speed but it will work.

SATA II is an unfortunate term that should not be used see http://www.sata-io.org/namingguidelines.asp . It was the old name of the standards group, not the standard.

There were a few SATA/150 controllers that had difficulty with SATA/300 drives so some drive vendors added a strap to force SATA/150 mode operation. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_ATA ... patibility for details.

According to another thread on this forum here there is no advantage to SATA II (AKA as SATA/300 or SATA 3gb/s).

The drive will work on your X60, and Brad is as usual right ... unless we get a new chipset with support for SATA/300, there is no advantage.
