R61i: No sound on 'downgraded' xp

#1 Post by deejay22 » Fri Feb 22, 2008 5:05 am

I've installed xp home on my R61i (came with vista) and while most things work well I have no sound. There is 1 PCI device which is not installed properly and for which I can't find the driver. I assume the uninstalled device is connected to the sound problem.

The various devices under sound in device manager are all properly installed. I have tried Lenovo's system manager to no avail.

Lenovo aren't very helpful saying that they don't have all the drivers for OEM versions. They say the motherboard is from Kona and I should search with them for drivers. Google gives no such motherboard manufacturer.

Many thanks!

I have finally solved my problem by installing the modem drivers which I though I don't need. It then required HDAudio drivers found through the Windows Update and voila! it all works.
